Singer/Songwriter/Guitar Player/Producer “Gary P plays his guitar with an insane amount of emotional energy. When he writes and performs on the acoustic guitar his maturity and soul really shine showcasing his diversity as a truly original singer/songwriter.” · Gary grew up in a very musical family learning to play guitar by ear at an early age and started song writing at the very start of his musical pursuits. With varied interests including BB King, Van Halen, Tony Bennett and Sting his guitar playing and vocal style have always been unique. · Was awarded the Lenny Breau Memorial Scholarship to Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA. Spent one year at G.I.T. studying with many top guitar players including Joe Pass, Paul Gilbert and Jennifer Batten. Was interviewed on CBC's "Local Hero of the Week" and featured in Guitar Player Magazine, the top guitar player's magazine worldwide. · Moved to Toronto after graduation and played the local circuit playing covers and original music. Gary was also the local winner of the "Canadian National Guitar Warz". Various studio efforts inspired him to concentrate on writing and recording original music while enjoying live playing in all aspects for the pleasure of a live audience. · He Returned home to Winnipeg to fine-tune his song writing and singing. Recorded a 5 song CD of guitar-oriented originals featuring his vocals for the first time. Was featured on The Buzz, 92 CITI FM where his songs received fantastic reviews from Bill Wallace (Guess Who), John Kendle (Winnipeg Sun) and Gord Fry (92 CITI). · Recorded ONLY IF YOU'RE LISTENING at 441 Studio in Winnipeg, A mature collection of heartfelt acoustic songs with lush harmonies and ambient grooves. LIKE A STONE earned an Honorable Mention in the Billboard World Song contest AND the International Songwriting Competition in London, England. Being part of the top 10 percentile was very inspiring. · Gary's vocals and potential as a songwriter won praise from local producer Chris Burke-Gaffney and Nashville Song Plugger Sherril Blackman. Film and TV would be very interested in his amazingly original acoustic take on U2’s classic I Will Follow. · He is currently writing, recording and producing songs for his next CD in his home studio. This CD is developing into an electric/ acoustic mix of Rock, Blues and Country. His vocals have matured with heart felt grit and soul completely complimenting the natural feel in his guitar playing. · The song 21 DAYS earned runner-up in the Sixth Annual International Acoustic Music Awards in the Open/AOG Category.
